Examining Artworks with Museum Educators

In Pursuit of Colors with Preschoolers

This program enables children to discover colors and shapes through works of contemporary art. 

Visiting Istanbul Modern's collection exhibition with a museum educator, the children focus on artworks such as Mübin Orhon's "Untitled", Sabri Berkel's "Abstract Composition”, Burhan Uygur's “The Door”, Ömer Uluç's "Blue Ghost and Two Friends”, Burhan Doğançay's "The Magnificent Age” and Selma Gürbüz's "Hand Globe”. They identify the colors and shapes in the artworks and comment on the artworks they examine.  
 

Life Around Me with Primary Education Level 1 Students (Grades 1 to 4) 

This program invites children to explore natural life and their environment through works of contemporary art. 

Visiting Istanbul Modern's collection exhibition with a museum educator, the children focus on artworks such as Neşet Günal's "Earth Man", Nedim Günsür's "Miner", Orhan Peker's “The Fisher Boy and Cats", Neş'e Erdok's "Shoe Shiner", Burhan Doğançay's "The Magnificent Age” and Aydan Murtezaoğlu’s “Untitled“. The children identify the basic concepts in the artworks, generate ideas, and share their opinions on the life of living things as an element of natural life. The program focuses on the relationship between human beings, nature, and their environment.

Motion, Sound and Light with Primary Education Level 2 Students (Grades 5 to 8)

This program takes an interdisciplinary approach to contemporary art, bringing the subjects of art together with those of science. 

Visiting Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition with a museum educator, the children learn about the concepts of "motion", “sound” and “light” through Ömer Uluç's "Landscape Bird, Forest Fire I, Forest Fire II", Mehmet Güleryüz's "Motard III”, Sarkis's "Flares!?”, Canan Tolon's "Manège” and Serkan Özkaya’s “Piano Elevated by Three Baloons”. They complete the program by examining the creative processes of the artists and the materials they use in their artworks.  

Artwork Analysis with Secondary School Students  

This program focuses on the creative processes of artists with a variety of styles. 

Visiting Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition with a museum educator, young students examine Fahrelnissa Zeid's "My Hell”, Kuzgun Acar's "Untitled", Nedim Günsür's “Miner", Burhan Doğançay's "The Magnificent Age”, Nur Koçak's "Cahide's Story” and Refik Anadol's "Infinity Room: Bosphorus”. The participants analyze the concepts of abstract, modern figurative, collage, photorealism, and contemporary art, and interpret the similarities and differences between the artworks.
