A Conversation with Šejla Kameric

April 14, 2012

One of the artists featured in La La La Human Steps exhibition, Šejla Kamerić talked about her work and her collaborative film with Anri Sala, the most debated art project of the year: 1395 Days Without Red.

Kamerić was born in Sarajevo in 1976 and studied graphic design at the Sarajevo Fine Arts Academy. She gained reputation with her poster work Bosnian Girl inspired by the Yugoslavian civil war. Juxtaposing her personal viewpoint with social contexts through her film, video, and photography work, Kamerić received the Princess Margriet Routes Award in 2011, an award given in the honor of Dutch Princess Margriet by the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) to artists, activists, and thinkers who aid in the understanding and appreciation of Europe’s cultural diversity in new and inspiring ways. The artist lives and works in Berlin and Sarajevo.

The film 1395 Days Without Red was screened after the talk with the participations of Šejla Kamerić, Osman Erden (president, AICA Turkey), and Çelenk Bafra (curator, Istanbul Modern)
