Asia Argento, a rebel in the movie industry, started her journey as the daughter of famous Italian horror director Dario Argento. Asia Argento, who was a star from the birth, has turned into a challenging persona by playing several villain roles. The Asia Programe taking place 11-28 December, includes Land of the Dead which she concurred Hollywood, La Terza Madre, the last movie of the “Three Mother” thriller trilogy which started with Suspiria in 1977, Transylvania which she played with Birol Ünel and The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things which she directed.

LAND OF THE DEAD

Another mind blowing zombie movie from Romero... We see the director once again in his own territory, the Living Dead. Zombies have won the war and taken over the world. The last remnants of human race live in a walled city to protect themselves. Human race is divided into two groups: The upper class led by Kaufman (Dennis Hopper) and the poor striving to survive on the streets. The apocalyptic world of Romero is once again full of social satire.

TRANSYLVANIA

It is a love story that takes place on ethnical by-roads of Europe. A pleasant road movie which has a happy ending with enthusiastic Gypsy music and stunning views. The director, famous for teaching the Romanian culture to Europe, focuses his camera to Zingarina, played by Argento. It is the adventure Zingarina goes through as she searches for her lover on the roads of Transylvania. A romantic journey under the sky.

MOTHER OF TEARS

The cult director of horror movies, Dario Argento ends his “Three Mother” trilogy after 30 years he shot the first film Suspiria in 1977. In this third movie, which has equal amount of violence and blood potential compared to the other films, Asia Argento and her mother Daria Nicoldi are taken on the role a mother and daughter. Sarah Mandy breaks the seal on an antique urn which she found in an old grave. This unleashes a witch named Mater Lacrimarum, Mother of Tears, the witch who ruled the world once. And this means, horrible suicides and criminal acts will plague Rome soon.

THE HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS

Asia is in the directors’ chair this time! The movie shows an appalling fraction of life by exposing the relationship between a drug addict mother and her son. The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things shows a seven years old child’s tragic life who has been taken from his beloved foster parents. You are going to shudder at the sight of this child who has been abused mentally and physically. Argento is quite significant at the emotional abusive mother role. Child’s grandparents are played by Peter Fonda and Ornella Muti.
